This west coast winter wedding on Vancouver Island was the highlight of my winter! It may have been freezing but the sun was shining and spirits were high. Now, to provide a little backstory….

Anita and Jon travelled all the way from Australia three days before Christmas! A month or so before their departure to Canada, Jon injured his leg and needed surgery. As you can imagine that would leave things pretty up in the air as they were unsure if they could even travel! Luckily Jon healed up well enough to endure the long journey here. Their wedding party could not have been more hands on and helpful for the both of them! They were running around pulling the last details together and were right there when Jon, or Anita needed a hand.

When I look at these photos, it transports me back to that beautiful late December day. It literally sends chills down my spine when I think about the wind that cut like an icicle and always found its way down the back of my jacket! I, however was wearing a jacket. This bride and groom didn’t complain even once about the cold! It is hard to not feel bad for wearing a jacket when they’re freezing, however that is the power of love. Some how it doesn’t seem to phase newleyweds as they’re just so happy to have tied the knot. Everyone, including all the Aussies survived the cold and have now lived to tell the tale! They were brave, courageous and definitely deserved the heat on full blast after their multiple hours outside!

Congrats again Anita and Jon and thanks for embracing the elements. I am very positive that you are now basking in the sun and heat down under xoxo
