My last wedding of the 2018 season was an intimate, cozy day at Minnekhada Lodge in Coquitlam, BC. It rained and rained and rained, however there was so much love in the Lodge that day that it was easy to forget the fact that is was like a cold February day at the end of September!  It was filled with family, friends and many happy tears and was such a lovely way to end my season!

Paul and Melanie each got ready on different ends of the lodge and it was absolutely imperative they did not see each other before the wedding.  Although I am not a traditional person myself, I love when traditions run high…. I oddly thrive on them! Nowadays a lot of people do firstlooks as a means to save time or to have a private moment before the chaos of the day ensues, however I always love the look on a groom’s face when he see his bride for the first time as she is walking down the aisle. There is nothing more beautiful than that moment between the two of them…. it seems that everything else simply freezes. After the ceremony we nearly got rained out of family and wedding party portraits, however we managed to dodge the rain drops to capture a few shots.  We did however only have 13 minutes… that’s right THIRTEEN MINUTES for Mel and Paul’s portraits! They were troopers though and we hammered them out!

I always love speeches at a wedding because it gives me a chance to truly get to know the couples I work with. Generally I like to have a meeting with them before we book anything, however time is always limited so I only get to cover so much ground. The speeches given for Paul and Melanie were so heartfelt and warming that it truly captured their spirit as a couple and as individuals. It was such an amazing end to the season! Congratulations again Paul and Melanie!
