Nanoose Bay Engagement ~ Vancouver Island

Being still relatively new to Vancouver Island, I am always scouting for new locations that truly capture the essence of the island. Well, actually that is a bit of a lie because there hasn’t been much scouting in the last few months due to the arrival of our baby boy. Now that we are a bit more mobile, we are trying to get out and explore this beautiful island we live on! Courtney suggested this location in Nanoose Bay and it quickly became one of my faves.

Vancouver Wedding Photographer ~ Nikki and Blake Engagement Session

Nikki and Blake’s engagement session was my first in-home session and now I am definitely hooked!  I generally choose to do sessions outdoor as the light is ample and there are so many elements to incorporate. Being surrounded by lush trees or ocean/lakeside views are a favorite of mine, plus it is the perfect time for couples to kick off their shoes and get a little bit of dirt or sand between their toes.  Nikki and Blake suggested we do an in-home session and then go for a walk over to Main street; OF COURSE I was down! I had been itching to do an in-home session and it was one of the cutest sessions I have had the opportunity to capture.  I think my favourite part of in-home sessions is that when I am invited into a couple’s home it gives me a chance to really get a sense and a feel of them! I’m pretty sure I was cry-laughing my entire way through because they were both so giggly and playful.

Caleb & Mallory’s Forest Engagement Session

I love when I receive a write up like this from a client:

“Caleb and I got up at 2:30AM local time, which is 11:30PM PT, to start our long journey to the beautiful Pacific Northwest (Vancouver, BC). Caleb had been training to run a 120 mile foot race through British Columbia since the beginning of the year. In January, when he first told me that we were going there for the race, I was excited. However if I had known that we would also be going to set the backdrop to our engagement photos I would have never believed it!
